“Niati often employs vivid raw colours painted directly over her canvasses without sketching. A daring artist by nature, she works spontaneously exploring as well as developing her concepts as the work progresses. She normally paints in layers starting with bright colours first, followed by darker ones. The layers are worked into shapes and forms which are then painted over with fresh brush strokes and solid shapes giving the work a pastel-like texture, the trade mark of Niati’s style.

Through the live performance which accompany Niati’s Installations, she attempts to communicate her work to the audience and maximise its effect. In these performances she brings together the visual and verbal elements of her culture and makes them relevant to contemporary issues and concern. Hence, Niati’s Installations become a vibrant environment of sound, body movement and colour.”
